In response to the Premier of Sarawak’s call in 2022 encouraging rural communities to explore algae cultivation, SBC established a 100 m² microalgae demonstration plot in Gedong (Lot 595).
The demonstration site showcases how smallholders may potentially cultivate microalgae locally.
In the future, such initiatives could allow villagers to become small-scale energy producers, creating new economic opportunities while supporting sustainable energy production.
