On 13th August 2026, the 24-month construction of the Sarawak Bioindustrial Park (SBP) Central Hub in Kota Samarahan, officially commenced following the foundation laying and exchange of agreements ceremony which was graced by the Right Honourable Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Premier of Sarawak.
Spanning 100 acres as a catalytic project under the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, the SBP is set to position Sarawak to tap into the booming global biotechnology market, projected to reach approximately USD 4.3 trillion by 2034.
Our key offering to investors is the access to leverage on the extensive Natural Product Library at the Sarawak Biodiversity Centre which houses tens of thousands of plant extracts, microbial strains, and algae strains.
The park will act as an extension of SBC to translate R&D into high-value global products across bioactives, biohealth, biomaterials, bioenergy, and bioenvironmental solutions.
The Park's Central Hub will serve as the core 1-stop platform and accelerator designed to bridge the gap between scientific research and commercialisation. It will house shared research laboratories, pilot-scale bioprocessing facilities, collaborative workspaces, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) manufacturing facility.
This milestone is made possible through visionary leadership, steadfast execution, and strong inter-agency coordination.
